Churma Na Ladwa

Churma ladoo is made from only 5 ingredients like whole wheat flour, jaggery, ghee, grated coconut and sesame seeds.

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 kilogram wholemeal flour
  • 100 gram flour
  • 350 gram jaggery (ghor)
  • 50 grams almonds slivered
  • 50 grams pistachios slivered
  • 1,1/4 teaspoons  1,1/4 teaspoon
  • 1 gram saffron
  • 1/2 teaspoons nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoons saffron
  • 2,1/2 teaspoons ground nutmeg
  • 50 grams poppy seeds
  • 100 grams mawa (see glossary)
  • 35 grams sultanas
  • 1/2 Kilogram ghee (made with 1/2 kg of butter and 1 cup of oil)

Instructions
 

  • Mix the 2 flours. Add 1/2 cup ghee and rub well
  • Add a little warm water to make a stiff dou
  • Add a little warm water to make a stiff dough
  • Mould the dough into muthia or if it is difficult, shape them into flat oval shapes about3/4 inch thick and deep fry
  • When cool, break them into pieces and grind to a coarse powder. Transfer to a large basin
  • Mix in the mawa, nutmeg, sultanas, almonds, pistachios, cardamom and saffron
  • In a separate saucepan heat the rest of the ghee on low heat and add jaggery. Do not let this boil 
  • As the jaggery is melting and as soon as it starts forming bubbles, remove from the heat
  • Pour this into the mixture prepared in step 5 and mix well
  • Taste for sweetness, adding more melted jaggery if required
  • Mould the mixture into desired sized balls and roll them in poppy seeds
