Khichri is a dish in South asian cuisine made of rice and lentils(dal), but other variations include bajra and mung dal khichri. In Indian culture, in several regions, especially in the northern areas, it is considered one of the first solid foods that babies eat

- 1 cup moong dal with skin
- 1,1/2 cup rice,washed
- 1 tablespoon butter,ghee
- Salt to taste
Wash and drain moong daal ensuring all grit is removed
Boil the rice and moong daal in 3 pints of salted water for a while
Then simmer on low heat until moong daal is cooked
Add a knob of butter or 1 tablespoon of ghee and mix well to a smooth consistency
