Ingredients

  • 500 grams all-purpose flour (about 4 cups)
  • 7 grams instant yeast ( 2tsp )
  • 50 grams sugar ( 1/2 cup )
  • 10 grams salt ( 2 tsp )
  • 240 ml warm milk ( 1 cup )
  • 60 grams unsalted butter melted (¼ cup)
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

Activate the Yeast:

  • In a bowl combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast.
  • Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy and bubbly.

Prepare the Dough:

  • In a large mixing bowl combine flour and salt.
  • Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg, then mix until a soft dough forms.

Knead the Dough:

  • Transfer the dough to a clean surface and knead for 8–10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

First Rise:

  • Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl and cover with a cloth.
  • Let it rise in a warm place for 1–1½ hours until doubled in size.

Shape the Rolls:

  • Punch down the dough to release air.
  • Divide it into 12 equal portions and shape them into smooth balls.
  • Place them in a greased baking pan, leaving a small gap between each.

Second Rise:

  • Cover the pan and let the rolls rise again for 30–40 minutes until soft and puffy.

Bake the Rolls:

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • Bake for 20–25 minutes** until the rolls turn golden brown on top.

Finish & Serve:

  • Brush the hot rolls with melted butter for extra shine and softness.
    Serve warm.

Notes

Pro Tips:
✔ Use warm milk (not hot) to activate the yeast properly.
✔ Knead well until the dough becomes elastic and smooth for fluffy rolls.
✔ During the second rise, keep rolls close but not touching so they expand nicely.
✔ Brushing butter after baking keeps the rolls extra soft and shiny.
✔ Store leftovers in an airtight container to keep them soft for longer.

Best Served With:
Butter, jam, soups, stews, or as mini sandwich buns.
