Dhokri

Dhokla is a vegetarian culinary dish that is found mainly in the Indian state of Gujarat and parts of adjacent states. It is made with a fermented batter derived from lentils like Chickpea, Pigeon pea and Urad and rice. Dhokla can be eaten for breakfast, as a main course, as a side dish, or as a snack. It is also called as Dhokri.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 instant dhokra cut into pieces
  • 1/2 cup desiccated coconut
  • 2-3 tablespoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
  • 10-15 curry leaves (limdo)
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing

Instructions
 

  • Heat oil
  • Add mustard, cumin and fenugreek seeds and let them pop
  • Reduce heat; add curry leaves and then the dhokra pieces
  • Sprinkle the coconut, toss the pieces and cook for a few minutes
  • Garnish with coriander leaves
