Ingredients
  

For the churros:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the cinnamon sugar coating:

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions
 

Prepare coating:

  • Mix sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish.
  • Keep aside.

Heat oil:

  • Heat oil in a deep pan to 180°C (medium-high heat).

Make dough:

  • In a saucepan, add water, butter, sugar, and salt.
  • Bring to a boil.

Add flour:

  • Reduce heat and add flour.
  • Stir continuously until the mixture becomes smooth and forms a dough.

Cool slightly:

  • Transfer to a bowl and let it cool for 5 minutes.

Add egg and vanilla:

  • Add egg and vanilla.
  • Beat well until smooth and combined.

Pipe churros:

  • Transfer dough to a piping bag with a star tip.
  • Pipe strips directly into hot oil.

Fry:

  • Fry for about 2 minutes on each side until golden brown.

Coat:

  • Remove and drain briefly, then roll in cinnamon sugar mixture.

Serve:

  • Serve warm with chocolate or caramel sauce.
