
Honey Garlic Prawns
A quick and flavorful seafood dish with juicy prawns coated in a sweet, sticky honey garlic sauce.
Ingredients
- 500 grams prawns cleaned and deveined
- 3 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp vinegar or lemon juice
- 5-6 garlic cloves finely chopped
- 1 tsp ginger grated
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp red chilli flakes (optional)
- Salt, very little
- 2 tbsp oil or butter
- 1 tsp cornflour (optional)
- Spring onions or sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
Prepare the sauce:
- In a bowl mix honey, soy sauce, vinegar or lemon juice, black pepper, chilli flakes, and cornflour if using.
Cook the prawns:
- Heat oil in a pan on high heat.
- Add prawns and cook for about 1–2 minutes on each side until they turn pink.
- Remove and keep aside.
Sauté aromatics:
- In the same pan add chopped garlic and grated ginger.
- Cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
Add the sauce:
- Pour the prepared honey mixture into the pan and let it simmer for 1–2 minutes until slightly thick.
Combine:
- Add the cooked prawns back to the pan and toss well so they are coated with the sauce.
- Cook for another 1 minute.
Serve:
- Garnish with spring onions or sesame seeds and serve hot with rice or noodles.

✔ Do not overcook prawns or they will become rubbery.
