Butter Bean Tikka Curry (Creamy & Spicy)

Ingredients
  

For Tikka Beans:

  • 2 cups cooked butter beans
  • 1/2 cup thick curd
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp oil

For Curry Gravy:

  • 2 tbsp oil or butter
  • 1 large onion finely chopped
  • 2 medium tomatoes pureed
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp kashmiri chilli powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp kasuri methi
  • 3-4 tbsp fresh cream or coconut cream
  • salt to taste
  • fresh coriander

Instructions
 

Marinate beans:

  • Mix curd, ginger-garlic paste, spices, lemon juice, and salt.
  • Add butter beans and coat gently.
  • Rest for 20–30 minutes.

Roast beans:

  • Heat oil in a pan and shallow fry the marinated beans for 4–5 minutes until slightly golden.
  • Set aside.

Prepare gravy:

  • Heat oil or butter and add cumin seeds.
  • Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.

Add base flavors:

  • Add ginger-garlic paste and cook briefly.
  • Add tomato puree and cook until oil separates.

Add spices:

  • Add chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric, and garam masala.
  • Cook for 2 minutes.

Combine:

  • Add water to adjust consistency.
  • Add roasted beans and simmer for 8–10 minutes.

Finish:

  • Stir in cream and kasuri methi.
  • Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot.
