Fish moilee/Moily (Paaka) or fish molee (meen molee) is a spicy fish and coconut dish of possible Portuguese or Indian origin. It is common in India ,Malaysia ,Singapore. During the times of the British empire, it spread into other places of South east asia , such as Singapore.

The name may be associated with a kind of curry known among Malayali of Southern India as Moli.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Kilogram(kg) fish(fillets or whole)
  • 1/2 teaspoon(tsp) salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon(tsp) ground green chillies
  • 2 teaspoon(tsp) coriander leaves,chopped
  • 1 teaspoon(tsp) garlic paste 
  • lemon juice to taste
  • coriander leaves for marinating 
  • 1/2 packet coconut cream
  • 1/2 pint water
  • 1 tomato chopped 
  • 2 green chillies
  • 1/4 teaspoon(tsp) turmeric
  • salt and lemon juice to taste
  • coriander leaves for garnishing

Instructions
 

  • Clean the fish and marinate in the salt, lemon juice, chillies, garlic and chopped coriander leaves for 1/2 hour
  • Prepare the coconut cream sauce as in Kuku Paaka (section:Chicken Dishes, recipe)
  • Grill the fish with a lithe of the prepared coconut sauce, turning once
  • When the sauce is simmering, add fish
  • Cook until heated through; add lemon juice
  • Garnish with chopped coriander leaves
