Ingredients
  

  • 6 cups cake flour
  • 4 cups self-raising flour
  • 180 grams butter melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 500 ml buttermilk
  • 1 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 packets yeast
  • Lukewarm water as needed
  • Oil for frying

For Sugar Syrup:

  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups water

Instructions
 

Prepare the dough:

  • In a large bowl mix all dry ingredients.
  • Add melted butter, eggs, and buttermilk.
  • Mix to form a soft dough.
  • Add lukewarm water if needed.

Knead:

  • Knead the dough lightly for 20–30 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Rest the dough:

  • Cover and let the dough rest for at least 1 hour until it rises.

Shape twisties:

  • Roll dough into a long sausage.
  • Cut small pieces and roll each into 8 cm strips.
  • Join 2–3 strips and plait.

Fry:

  • Heat oil on medium heat.
  • Deep fry twisties until golden brown.
  • emove and drain excess oil.

Prepare syrup:

  • In a pan add sugar and water.
  • Simmer on low heat until slightly thick and syrupy.

Coat and serve:

  • Dip or drizzle syrup over warm twisties.
  • Serve fresh.
