Tandoori chicken is a chicken dish prepared by roasting chicken marinated in yogurt and spices in a tandoor, a cylindrical clay oven. The dish originated from the Indian subcontinent and is popular in many other parts of the world.
Ingredients
- 6 pieces skinned chicken(quarters)
- 100 grams(g) yoghurt
- 2 tablespoons(tbsp) tomato puree
- 2 teaspoons(tsp) kashmiri or tandoori masala
- 2 tablespoons(tbsp) oil
- 1 teaspoons(tsp) garam masala powder
- 1/2 teaspoons(tsp) garlic paste
- 1/2 teaspoons(tsp) ginger paste
- few strands of saffron
- 4 tablespoons(tbsp) 4 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 pinch red chilli powder
- Salt to Taste
Instructions
- Rub the chicken quarters with some lemon juice and salt and leave for about half an hour
- Mix all the remaining ingredients to form a smooth paste
- Score the chicken flesh with a sharp knife and marinate in the prepared paste for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight
- Grill the chicken under moderate heat on both sides
